Joseph M. Otting serves as Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Flagstar Bank, N.A. He chairs the Executive Committee and serves on the Technology and Operations Committee.
Mr. Otting is an accomplished businessman and former government official who served as the 31st United States Comptroller of the Currency from November 2017 to 2020. His banking career includes roles as President of CIT Bank and Co-President of CIT Group, President, CEO and a Director at OneWest Bank, N.A., and Vice Chairman of U.S. Bancorp, where he led the Commercial Banking Group and served on the Bancorp’s executive management committee and U.S. Bank’s main subsidiary banks’ Board of Directors. He also held senior positions at Union Bank of California and Bank of America.
Mr. Otting has been active in charitable and community development throughout his career, serving on boards throughout the US and is currently on the Board of Andalusian Credit Company, Blockchain, the Board of Governors of the Hope Organization, Oasis and Talino Labs.
He holds a bachelor of arts in management from the University of Northern Iowa and graduated from the School of Credit and Financial Management at Dartmouth College.
